Welcome to White Manna, the beloved hamburger haven located at 358 River St, Hackensack, NJ. This iconic diner has been serving up sliders and all-American burgers since its inception, and it's a destination that embodies classic diner culture. If you're a fan of compact, hearty bites that are bursting with flavor, then White Manna is your perfect pit stop.
White Manna specializes in sliders—small hamburgers that are not only easy to devour but also deliver an explosion of taste in every bite. Whether you opt for the double cheeseburger, cheeseburger, or hamburger, each choice is crafted with care. The burgers are known for their juicy, pressed beef patties paired with caramelized onions and gooey American cheese, delivering a nostalgic flavor that reminds many of their favorite childhood eats.
The atmosphere at White Manna is delightfully chaotic, with the hustle of dedicated employees serving customers quickly, even as a line forms at the door. As you enjoy your meal, you'll be treated to an experience that's both communal and intimate, thanks to the cozy interior that encourages conversation with fellow burger enthusiasts. It’s a place where you can mingle and share your thoughts on the best methodology for tackling those sliders.
Complementing the burgers are crinkle-cut fries that are the perfect sidekick. While they absorb just the right amount of grease, they offer the crunchy texture needed to balance the richness of the burgers. Pair your meal with a drink from their selection—ranging from unsweetened iced tea to root beer—and you'll be set for a satisfying dining experience.
White Manna may not boast a glamorous facade or extensive menu, but what it lacks in extravagance, it more than makes up for with authenticity and taste. This is comfort food that warms your soul, drawing in burger lovers from near and far, many of whom would agree that a visit here is worth every mile. So next time you're in the area or craving a taste of true American sliders, make sure to stop by White Manna—where burger bliss awaits.

I wasn't sure if it was worth the schlep to get these burgers but now I eat humble pie in order to eat these burgers. It is slider sized so order at least 2 if you want more than a bite. It's tiny space so you'll get to know the other customers real well. No bathroom and no order that I could ascertain. My experience was one counter guy did drinks, another for the burgers, and a third for sides. Heaven forbid you try to order all the items at once! But even so I fully enjoyed the experience, including a cup of pickles

I once read a definition of the word "slider" as meaning "a small hamburger on a small bun". That was all they said...nothing more. I was aghast (i.e., Struck by shock, terror, and/or amazement). When comes to hamburgers, sure the culinary universe is large and the possibilities are endless, but it all starts with the simple all-American hamburger (no, not that place, that's a different review). I'm talking that hot-off-the-grill, savory marriage of meat, onions and bun that most people (and damn-near all companies) can't cook right. And when you talk "sliders", that's taking it all down to a simple three bite challenge that, in perfection, is harder to find than money. Now, what if that place was only a few miles from Manhattan, has old word dining car charm and has won more gold metals than Michael Phelps? That's White Manna Hamburgers in Hackensack, NJ. Think amazing hamburgers or cheeseburgers and perfectly cooked crinkle cut fries. Pure burger bliss... Like the Apizza in New Haven, CT, this place is worth the road trip. Hours: Mon - Sat : 10.30 a.m to 9:00 p.m. Sunday : 11.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m They take most cards, parking can be tight.

I've always been a fan of real sliders, like White Castle-type sliders, so when I heard there was an authentic slider joint a short drive from our Airbnb, I was stoked to check it out. We arrived shortly before closing time and the place was packed. The atmosphere was pretty chaotic but finally someone asked us what we wanted. We decided to grab some cheeseburgers and fries, and then the wait began. We got our food about 20 minutes later and it was exactly what I wanted. Was it probably the greasiest cheeseburger I've ever had? You betcha. Was it delicious? Absolutely. The combination of the pressed beef and onions and that American cheese is just irresistible. The soft bread holds everything together perfectly. The fries were pretty great, too. And how much did all that food cost? About 10 bucks! You can't find a better bargain than that anywhere.

Worth the visit for the experience. The food was good but not particularly my favorite style of hamburger. Milkshake was good and glad we stopped during our short trip to the area.

White manna is a greasy and kind of dirty little place that's been around for decades and decades. Most people go for the sliders which come with or without onions. You can ask for pickles which come on the side. The fry cook will add ketchup to your slider if you're getting them to go, otherwise the bar seating (curved around the flat top) has mustard too. It's not fancy but it's good, like good for your soul good. The soda fountain is great. The fries are fine but go well with the sliders. The burgers do not always keep their shape and often devolve into a greasy meat sandwich (see photo). I don't care, I still like it. That's why it gets 4 stars.

The guy making the burgers! How he amazingly keeps a steady hand and stays composed when there are 20 customers staring you down and throwing orders at him. He also has a great sense of humor. It made it worth the trip I'm honestly not crazy over the burgers because they taste like onions and I came home smelling like onions but it's just something you need to experience at least once! Limited parking, tiny countertop, very uncomfortable to sit, crowded as heck but worth the trip ! Figure that one out

My goodness this is one heck of a small restaurant, but their burgers are soooo addictive. I've probably passed by White Manna more times than I could count, but I finally dropped in on a recent Monday afternoon at 12:30 after placing an online order for 3 double cheeseburgers, a steak and cheese sandwich, cheese fries and a strawberry banana shake. The place is as tight and small as it gets with basically one way traffic around it's horseshoe interior built around bar seating and a grill. There were a bunch of guys just sitting around eating, looking like they needed just a quick bite and then were going to bounce. No long chit chats here. Just eat and go. The cheeseburgers were tiny and greasy as hell, but damn good. I probably could have easily devoured 10 of them. I never thought I would see the day when I ate a burger smaller than one from White Castle, but here we are. The steak and cheese sandwich was even better! Juicy, flavorful and cheese oozing out of it. As for the cheese fries, well, they forgot to give me my cheese on the side. Womp, womp. So, I basically just ate crinkle cut fries by itself. They were good, but some cheese to dip them in would have been better! Now that Strawberry Banana Shake. OHHHH YES. Truly ONE OF THE BEST ICE CREAM SHAKES I have everrrrrr, everrrr had. Perfect balance of ice cream and milk. The thickness was perfect. Also, it wasn't too sweet and the ice cream really came through with each sip. Everything about it was 100. I would come here alone just for their shake. Not sure if one really wants to dine here due to the cramped space, but well worth the trip to grab a quick bite to go.
